The Ultimate Green Solution

Instant Spaces can help you keep your carbon footprint to its absolute minimum.  We manufacture, deliver & install the most environmentally friendly garden homes anywhere in the UK.

From the time you place your order, there are three processes to go through before you are able to enjoy the benefits of having one of our luxury homes in your garden.  They are manufacture, delivery & installation.

Manufacture

As specialist manufacturers in the woodworking industry we are aware of the environmental benefits of using wood in comparison to all other building materials for the manufacture of products within the building and garden home industry.

Responsibly sourced wood is the only renewable building material available.  It is naturally grown and removes greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.  The production and processing of wood uses much less energy than most other building materials, giving wood products a significantly lower carbon footprint.

Wood can be used as a substitute for materials that require larger amounts of fossil fuels to be produced.  In addition, wood products store the carbon that the growing trees have removed from the air.

At Instant Spaces we only use wood that is FSC certified to manufacture the components that we use in our interlocking panels.

Wood as Energy

At Instant Spaces we use our wood waste off cuts to produce ‘sustainable’ energy.  Trees absorb carbon dioxide whilst they grow, so burning wood for energy is considered ‘carbon neutral’.

With this in mind, Instant Spaces have very recently made a twenty-year investment with the government-backed Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) by purchasing a biomass wood chip, hot water central heating system which enables us to chip and burn all our wood off cuts to generate enough energy to heat our premises.

This has a twofold benefit for the environment as it means that not only do we no longer require gas supplies at our premises but it also means not sending our excess timber waste to landfill sites via skips and pick-up lorries.

Our sawdust & wood shavings are also recycled by farmers who use it for cattle bedding for their animals.  This whole process makes us more efficient as a company.  By not burning gas we are significantly reducing our CO2 emissions.

Delivery

The number of deliveries needed to get a job done causes most of the pollution in the building and construction industry.  Seventy five percent of carbon monoxide emissions come from automobiles.  In urban areas, harmful automotive emissions are responsible for anywhere between 50 and 90 percent of air pollution.  As our buildings can be put together so quickly, we can guarantee that your completely finished Luxury Garden Home is built in a fraction of the time it takes any other garden home company in the UK.  The average time it takes to build a garden home using either conventional building methods or European modular SIPS constructed alternatives is 4 weeks from start to finish.  Not only therefore will you have to expect numerous deliveries, from raw materials to skip and concrete lorries but you will also have the builders travelling to and from your house for at least one month.  This means more vehicles on the road, more air pollution in the atmosphere and more of your valuable time being taken up by having the builders at your home.  With Instant Spaces this simply won’t happen.

As our garden buildings are modular and manufactured to be delivered in flat pack kit form, they can just as easily be delivered to terraced houses in city centres as they can be to detached homes in the countryside.  When we built the Coppice School building,  due to the limited access of the site, it was easier to deliver the panels by long wheel based vans rather than using lorries.  The Instant Spaces elemental building system is versatile in just about every possible way right down to its delivery.

EPS & the Environment

The EPS insulation that we use to generate such structural strength and such high thermal  values is also extremely environmentally friendly.  It’s 100% recyclable.  EPS is being successfully recovered, and recycled throughout the UK.  100 tonnes of EPS are recycled each month in the UK.

EPS and the ozone layer

EPS does not contain CFC’s, HCFC’s or fibre.  EPS has a Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and a Low GWP (Global Warming Potential).  EPS has been given an ‘A+’ rating in the BRE ‘Green Guide’.  It is not noxious.
